introducing Trixie!
My parents got a new dog! She is a very sweet, very quiet, very petite four year old Beagle. They adopted her from the VA Tech vet school and picked her up this afternoon. My kids are absolutely in love with her!

This was the final nail in the coffin of me refusing to let us get a dog because I don’t want one in the house (and we don’t want to fence our yard). I’m okay with a small, short haired dog to live inside… especially seeing how much Killy and Ellie would love to have a pet dog. Plus, I’ve never had a puppy! We got Bugle when he was already full grown, and he’s the only dog I’ve ever had. I will be obsessively checking all the local animal shelter websites until I find a Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier mix puppy – that’s what David and I have decided would be the best fit for our family (we want a small short-haired dog and I love Beagles and David likes Jack Russell Terriers and they make an awfully darn cute mix). I’d like to wait a few weeks to get a puppy, but as soon as we find one we’ll rush out to get it. BUT, we are not telling the kids – its a secret! Since we don’t know exactly when we’ll get it, we’ll all be a lot happier if they don’t know until they get home from school one day and find a new puppy at home.

Trixie is ADORABLE!! So glad to see Trixie on a lease, as beagle should never be off lease or out of an enclosed yard. They get on a scent and take off! Many are lost that way.
Beagles are the BEST! My Molly is 9 yrs old and she’s just a hoot.
