Happy New Year!
I can’t believe its now 2009!
We had a pretty nice day today – this morning I did a ton of accounting. When you own your own business you realize that for tax reasons you want to make all upcoming purchases and pay bills and such before the end of the year. So, this morning was dealing with all that stuff. Then the kids and I went to town to the library and then did child care at the gym, which was WONDERFUL because Killian and Ellie really needed some time to play with other kids and run around. When we got back I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning house. I’ve decided my new system for house-cleaning this year will be to focus on a different room of the house each day of the week and do the corresponding laundry that day:
Monday – master bedroom (David and Jen’s clothes)
Tuesday – family room/kitchen
Wednesday – Killy and Ellie’s rooms (kids clothes)
Thursday – bathroom (towels)
Friday – playroom
Saturday – basement
Sunday – won’t do a specific room, but will mop and vacuum floors on the main level
I hope this works out well! I’m really tired of the FlyLady system, I’ve been doing it on and off for years now, but with that you focus on one room per week and rotate through the month. I’m just too impatient for that! So, I guess this is one of my New Years Resolutions – stay more on top of house cleaning. And in usual Jen form, I started on that today with my hours of obsessive cleaning!
So, goals (as I previously discussed): paying bills as far ahead of schedule as possible, continuing to exercise 1500 min/month, staying on top of housecleaning (using that organization book Carina gave me to help!), and I’m training for a triathlon this year. (But that’s not so much a Resolution as a way to celebrate turning 30 this year.) I want to stick with my weight-training and the intermittent fasting, and I’d like to get my bodyfat percentage back under 20% this year. So, gee – not too many goals, right? Typical Jen…
This year I’ve watched my kids grow up so much! Killian started piano lessons (we discontinued them a couple months ago because he wasn’t enjoying them, but he just ask if he could start again – yay!), he’s been doing gymnastics for a couple months now and loving it, and he’s starting to read and his writing and drawing have improved so much. Ellie started school this year and her personality has really blossomed, along with her speech. She’s also showing signs of being very musical and artistic, which is wonderful to watch. Our business did about 13% better this year than last year, and I started working part-time at a job I love while the kids are in school. I also finally took the plunge and talked to my doctor about my anxiety/depression and we figured out that it was due to my chronic insomnia and now that that problem has been solved I’ve been about a thousand times happier! Its just been a wonderful year for all of us! AND, I know that 2009 is going to be even better!!!
