Happy Thanksgiving (again)

Today we hosted Thanksgiving Dinner for the Sharps at my house.  We had a pretty full house: me, David, Killy, Ellie, Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie, Uncle Bob, Carol (Bob’s fiancee), Micah (Carol’s son), Teresa, and Paul (a friend of ours).  We had an amazing meal!  My parents did the birds and stuffing and Carol brought two desserts and I fixed the rest of the side dishes.  Here was the menu: two turkeys, one brined and one baked as usual (I prepped the brine, but my parents did all the actual cooking), my parents phenomenal sausage and red wine stuffing, gravy (made with the drippings and red wine), Roasted Garlic Smashed Red Potatoes,Cranberry Daquiris, Homemade Cranberry-Orange Sauce (which I forgot and left in the fridge), Creamed Cabbage, Sweet Potato Pineapple Casserole,Homemade Butterhorns,Garlic Peas, and for dessert Carol brought Brownies and Chess Bars and I made Pumpkin Cheesecake Dip served with cinnamon graham crackers and gingersnaps.  After we ate, we made Dad and Uncle Bob tell funny family stories and Paul played guitar and harmonica for us (and let Killy play the guitar!).  Later we used my fire pit for the first time!  It was just a wonderful, wonderful Thanksgiving!

And, Ellie can already make her own turkey salad sandwich!  I make really, really fabulous turkey salad – the trick is to put some honey in it… Ellie really loved it!

And one more thing I’m very grateful for – my last birthday present finally arrived today!  Killy said he wanted to get me a ring for my birthday, and so I picked out a Mother’s Ring.  It has each of the kids’ birthstones and their names engraved on it.  I found one that matches my wedding set very well and I just love it! Isn’t it beautiful?!
