ahhhhhhh…..

Vacation life is wonderful!

Our beach house is gorgeous – David and I have a king sized bed in our room, the kids have a room with two sets of bunkbeds, my parents have a room, and Erin has the upstairs loft.  We’re really close to the beach (about a 90 second walk!) and we’ve been going down to the beach once or twice a day.  Its heavenly!  I’ve been biking every day, which is also wonderful, and today I took a walk along the beach.  Shockingly, no one has even gotten sunburned yet – its just been a nice relaxing week.  It took the kids awhile to warm up to the ocean, the waves are kind of scary for them.  But today they were both playing in the water and having a great time!  Yesterday we went to see the Cape Hatteras Light House.  When I biked up to it, I thought I had lost my mind.  It was completely different than I remembered!  We visited it in ‘92 on vacation, and I knew I remembered it being right on the waterfront – but when I biked up it was in a grove of trees well behind the dune.  When we went into the visitor center, though, we learned that they moved the whole lighthouse in ‘99.  How crazy is that?!  My dad, Killy, and I even climbed the lighthouse, which was neat.

I’m going to try to load some pictures here in a minute…
