Happy Birthday, Auntie!
Yesterday was my sister’s birthday, and we had a busy day getting ready for the festivities! First, Ellie helped me bake Erin’s usual cake (a big pan of brownies with peanut butter icing):

Killy insisted that when we decorated it we write: “Happy Birthday, Auntie! Love, Killy, Ellie, and Jen” so Erin would remember who made the cake for her.
I also finished up a quilt for Erin. It evolved while I making it and I’m not thrilled with the end result. I wanted it to be folk-artsy, but instead I think it turned out looking like a six year old’s first attempt at making a quilt:

Auntie looked lovely at her party and my mom had bought her a little party tiara which didn’t fit her head so she whittled it down to a lovely clip. The kids were enthralled with it since it lit up in different colors:

As you can see, there was quite a spread of delicious food. Erin said she wanted snacky food for dinner so mom fixed rotel-velveeta-hambuger dip, veggie trays, and sausage balls. Yum!
Ellie was insistent that she wanted to stay and sleep with Auntie last night. She even went and laid down on Auntie’s bed and asked us to turn the lights off! Here they are, admiring the stars in my childhood bedroom:

When I was 15, I decided that I just HAD to paint my room dark blue and put glow in the dark star stickers over the walls and ceiling. Honestly, I still love it! I just don’t have any rooms that it would really work in now. (Plus, I doubt I could convince the guy I dated in high school to come help me paint another room like that! He and Erin and I spent a couple of days painting the room, and let me tell you – it is quite a chore to paint a popcorn ceiling dark blue!)
All in all, I think a good time was had by all at Erin’s party!
