cuteness, shooting, etc

First of all, Ellie is just too cute for me to even be able to explain it.  She (finally!) has started letting me put her hair back in a ponytail sometimes so its not always in her face, and she looks so sweet.  I love her wild hair, but its nice to see her face sometimes, you know?

Uncle Bob came up this weekend and he and Dad and Erin and I went out shooting yesterday.  My parents have 30 acres and we go way back in the woods and shoot at produce and paper plates and party hats and such.  Erin is an amazing shot, btw!  Bob is also an incredible shot (I guess those years in Vietnam and as a state trooper give him a bit of an advantage).  A very good time was had by all.  I got to shoot Bob’s 357 Magnum, and this picture captures the sensation very well:

Of course, my favorite gun to shoot is my grandmother’s rifle:

Here’s Erin and I – she’s holding our Granny Dillie’s rifle and I’m holding Papa’s rifle he left to Dad:

And here’s Dad and Uncle Bob – I’m so glad I have a good picture of them together!

Its been a kind of weird week.  I’m still trying to get caught up on everything after having been away.  I’m feeling very down and I don’t know quite what to do about it.  The kids are doing well, though, and I think they’re having a fun summer.
