more pictures, plans for the next quilt

So, I couldn’t wait and had to wash and dry the quilt tonight.  Isn’t it delightful?

Apollo found the frayed edges very tempting:

I mentioned that my next quilt will be a denim quilt for Killian for his birthday.  (Yes, he’ll get other presents, too – I’m sure some of you are thinking “What a lame gift for a little boy!”)  I think this quilt is going to be awesome!  Its going to be lots of little squares of denim with randomly placed larger squares. The larger squares will include the back pockets from the jeans I cut up.  I think Killy will be enthralled with a quilt that has big pockets all over it, and I’m sure they’ll be filled with Hot Wheels most of the time!  I drew up the plans for the quilt tonight, and it will have 448 small squares and 20 large squares and will be a standard full size bed quilt.  I’m using a strip-quilting technique so I can make all those little squares very efficiently, of course.  The backing will be some type of red and blue patterned fabric, hopefully something with race cars or airplanes and I’ll do my usual faux-binding so the backing will wrap around to the front and act as the binding.  I’m finally getting better at doing the corners, at least!  The denim colors I have range from very light blue to dark blue to black to khaki.  I’ve very, very excited to get started on it tomorrow.

We started watching Sweeny Todd tonight.  Its one of those movies that’s very good, but there aren’t many likeable characters.  (Chicago was like that, too.) I think I’m actually looking forward to watching the special features more than the rest of the movie – visually, the movie is amazing!
