lunch date!
So, instead of date night, we had a lunch date today. David and I wanted to see Stardust again in the theater, so we ended up going to Mt. Airy to see a 1pm showing. But first we tried the Japanese restaurant in Galax – it was delicious! I thought, for some reason, that they had sushi, so I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t, but my steak and shrimp was wonderful so I’m certainly not complaining. And, Stardust was just as good the second time – I can’t wait for it to come out on DVD!
I had a horrible walk tonight, Ellie threw a tantrum for about 20 minutes while in the Ergo so I got to walk with her screaming in my ears. Finally, I put Killy in the backpack and Ellie in the stroller, and that helped some but Killy kept purposefully poking his pointy little chin into my shoulder blade. It was so painful! I finally told him that I wasn’t going to read him stories if he kept hurting me, because I don’t go out of my way to be nice to people who hurt me, and he apologized and didn’t do it again. And, then, when we were curling up in bed to read, he said, “Mommy, I really sorry I hurt you.” I try not to use punishments with the kids, but instead use natural consequences for actions… and I honestly don’t know if saying “I’m not going to read to you if you hurt me” was a punishment or a natural consequence. I do think that in general, people don’t go out of their way to be nice to people who hurt them, though…
After getting the kids down, I watched the first half of The Princess Bride while working out. I’m very close to my monthly goal now!
