domestic goddess at work

(Thanks for bestowing that title on me, Carina!)

So, while David’s been reading Harry Potter to me, I’ve been sewing curtains. Behold:

(master bedroom - I designed the pattern for these curtains in my head while I was biking the other day and was able to sew them right up when I got home that night)

(sewing/exercise room - I thought David would hate these because he insists that he hates batik fabric, though it seems now it was only the first piece of batik fabric I ever showed him that he hated)

(laundry room - first of all, I LOVE my laundry room! David got all of the boxes out of it last week and its huge now. the “curtains” I did in hear are actually tie-dyed infant prefold diapers pinned on the rods using safety pins. the framed pictures are ones I took of our clothesline in Shawnee and our clothesline here.)

(Killy’s room, of course! I’m making him a quilt that has no licensed characters on it with the theme of trains, tractors, and fire engines - and the main colors are red and black, so these curtains will match well, but they can be switched out in a few years when he’s no longer excited about Cars)

(the only piece of furniture that got really damaged in the move was Killy’s dresser. the bottom two drawers were basically crushed, and the big hole was bothering me. so I used the same fabric to make a curtain to cover it up! now he can put toys or books in there)

I am absolutely amazed by how much the new paint and curtains changed the bedroom! I’m also very impressed by the curtains throughout the house…you really deserve the title of domestic goddess! I have to say, you’re an impressive role-model of mother, decorator, and all-around badass homemaker–in the best sense of the word! Honestly, I have more respect than I can say for your dedication to your family. I know that being a stay-at-home mom can be really frustrating sometimes–it’s a truly under appreciated job–but I really respect your decision. You’re living proof that it’s possible to be a badass feminist woman who puts her family first!

I guess I just wanted to let you know that I really respect and admire you. :) Take care and much love to you, Dave, and the kids!
