Christmas planning already?!

But of course!

I’m going to be sewing Waldorf style dolls for the kids for Christmas.  These are big heavy dolls (sometimes called Therapy Dolls) filled with rice and lavender.  Killy’s will be 16 inches and green and Ellie’s will be 12 inches and red:

(You can order either the dolls or the kits to sew them here.)  I think Killy will respond to a nice heavy doll more than to most dolls or stuffed animals… just a hunch.  David and Erin have both stressed to me that I MUST sew the faces onto the dolls, even though its optional.
Today was a kind of challenging day – Killy was wild and moody.  But he’s so verbal now!  He chats away all the time and is using “I” a lot more often now, though he still sometimes refers to himself as Killy.  He’s also started using the final “p” sounds in words correctly most of the time, I’m trying to focus on getting him to say the final “d” sound correctly now.  Even though we’re working on articulation, I get comments all the time from strangers/aquaintances about how clear his speech is and that they can understand him.

Whenever someone shows an interest in him, Killy goes through this whole litany of all the boo-boos he’s gotten all summer.  Its pretty funny!  He tells/shows them his toe that the firetruck hurt, then he shows them his other toe that he hurt on a chair at the library, then he shows them his hand where a cat bit him, then his other hand where a horsefly bit him.  Some of these things happend back in JUNE!  How crazy is it that he remembers and talks about them constantly!  He points out where his boo-boo is, and then explains where it came from to anyone who’ll listen.  Other than the firetruck on the toe, they’ve all been really minor injuries… his toenail is about to fall off, by the way.  EWWWW!
