confidence

I’m becoming much more confident in taking both kids out at once by myself. Saturday we went to the children’s museum. Sunday we went to a benefit dinner at my church. Today we went to a kids consignment store and then to get Killy a haircut. All the trips have gone VERY well so far! My tandem stroller still hasn’t been assembled, so I’ve been carrying Ellie and Killy’s done quite well walking with me, though I am looking forward to having the option of the stroller.

The benefit dinner at church was lovely. Its for a woman who’s a single mom and has colon-rectal cancer and therefore can’t work. There was a HUGE turnout! It was a potluck dinner and silent auction, and I won two of the three things I bid on! I got an Angel Reading (I’m curious to see what that actually is) and highlights at a local salon! I’m very excited to get my hair done professionally. The only time in my life I’ve ever been to a salon to have anything done to my hair was before Ring Dance when I had an updo done. I figure that maybe with some shiny new highlights I won’t feel quite as groteque at familyl reunions five weeks after giving birth. I’m only about 8 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight, but I need to loose another 15 pounds after that to get back to my ideal weight. Sadly, I know that a lot of family members are very judgemental about weight (and comment on it!), so I’m totally freaked about seeing everyone. It really sucks since I struggled a lot with eating issues in college, and you never totally recover from that…

It was also really nice to see everyone from church. I haven’t gone since Ellie was born, so it was exciting to see all my friends there and introduce Ellie. They all bragged on her and Killy, saying how beautiful Ellie is and how well-behaved Killian is. And everyone was so nice to me! Not to sound too whiny, but Erin and David are pretty over the cheerful helping now (yeah, its been a whole 3.5 weeks since I gave birth, I should be back at 100% apparently). Everyone kept asking what they could do to help, offering to bring me things, and not a single person rolled their eyes or sighed when I did ask them to do something to help me.

The big news for today is that we bought a piano today! Woohoo! Its really beautiful, and David says it plays great. We’ll have it delivered sometime this week, hopefully. Here’s a picture of it:

MISS JENNIFER! You are not even remotely grotesque! I think you are lovely! I’m excited to see the highlights, too. I think I will hold off getting mine done until my birthday (when I can justify treating myself since I never win any prizes!).

Congrats on the piano! Where are you going to put it?

OMG, you look fabulous!!!!!!! You have lost so much weight already in only 3.5 weeks. You should not feel one bit self conscious.

Your piano looks beautiful. Emma LOVES “playing” the piano at my parents’ house, so I’m sure Killy will enjoy yours.
