steps forward
The highlight of today was Killy seeming to realize that Ellie is a little person. He even offered her his pacifier – a sign of true love from him! Usually he only does that for me and his Elmo doll. He also gently rubbed her head while she was sleeping, which was sooo cute – but of course I didn’t have the camera ready. Killy also sang “Row, row, row your boat” today – his first song!
Its been a really tough day for me. Physically, I’ve been really uncomfortable. Emotionally, its been really tough, too, because I was right: everyone expected me to jump up and be totally recovered within 2 days (except Mom, who’s worked like a dog all day helping out around the house, while encouraging me to take naps and rest). Today I got to fix myself breakfast and lunch, chase Killy around all morning, and everyone was disapointed in me that I didn’t feel up to going out and doing stuff. Killy still has a cold, and has decided he HATES to take medicine. Its really exhausting to battle with a toddler over everything: meals, medicine, teeth-brushing, diaper-changes, etc. I know that this is just the start of the “terrible twos” and that he’s searching for ways to assert his independence and that he’s figuring out that he’s an individual… but its just so exhausting and overwhelming at times.

Rah-rah-sis-boom-bah!
Goooooo-Jennifer!
Geez, most days I don’t feel like going out and I don’t even have the epic-battle-with-a-two-year-old excuse you have. I think I’ll take the lazy/sleep-deprived/introvert excuse.
Take care of yourself, it’s really awesome that you have a great support base – go exploit it. You are the queen and oyu decree that you are tired, and that you require chubby-hubby ice-cream, and a nap!
I do that too, sometimes, although I don’t actually decree it to anyone in particular; just the apartment in general.
Mmm, ice-cream.

I’m sorry you had a rough day. If you want some help, please ask. Emma and I would be happy to come over and play with Killy, or make you lunch, or of course hold Ellie so you can have a break!
