naptime

This morning we went to church, and it was wonderful! Mary Virginia watched Killy in the nursery and I actually got to sit in the sanctuary and listen to the music and sermon! (There’s a speaker in the nursery, but with Killy and other kids I don’t get to really pay attention.) We got home and I fixed our favorite Sunday lunch of snacky-finger-foods. Today I made baked Brie and we also had goat cheese, crackers, hummus, pita, and grapes. YUM! And, I know you’re all dying to know my super easy baked brie recipe, so here it is: Get a can of frozen croissant dough and put half of it in the bottom of a baking pan, then put a round of Brie (or Camembert) on it – leave the rind on, liberally spread either blackberry or raspberry seedless preserves on the top of the round of Brie, and then put a layer of croissant dough on top and seal the sides. Bake for about 20 minutes, till the croissant dough is fully cooked and the Brie is runny. It is HEAVENLY!

After we cleaned up from lunch, Killy wanted to play outside so I asked Mary Virginia if she would watch him while I layed down for a nap. I wasn’t even terribly tired, just thought I should take a nap before I got exhausted so went to lay down and do my 30-minute Hypnosis practice, and I figured I might nap a few minutes after I finished it. Well, I fell asleep during the session and didn’t wake up till four and a half hours later! In all fairness, though, I didn’t get the extra hour of sleep last night because Killy woke up an hour early – I guess we forgot to reset his internal clock to standard time.

It is just amazing to me how much Killian eats every day. This morning he nursed for 45 minutes when he woke up, then ate an apple with cinnemon, a cup of water, about 2 squares of pumpkin bread, Cherrios in the car on the way home from church, at lunch he ate a ton of grapes, some hummus (he scraped it off the pita), crackers, lots and lots of cheddar cheese, more water to drink, he nursed a little, and at dinner he ate lots of the turkey smoked sausage out of the stir fry I made (he only ate a couple bites of veggies, though), drank more water, and then nursed before bed. Then, after dinner, he decided that he LOVED the brown rice. He wouldn’t eat it off his plate during the meal, but he was litterally sticking his whole head inside the pot where the rice had been cooked, picking out individual grains of rice stuck to the bottom. He looked like some poor starving child picking the rice out of an almost-empty pot!

Tomorrow the little man gets a haircut… he’s way past due, his hair hangs in his eyes and over his ears. I like it on the longish side, though, and I request a “boy’s long cut” at the salon. Its funny, because most of the little boys go into the haircut place with hair the same length as Killy leaves with. He comes in with hair as long as some of the girls! He has the prettiest little curls, though, its always sad to see them cut off… But I figure if I get his haircut this week, it will look nice (with no maintanence!) for pictures when the baby’s born, at Thanksgiving, and for our Christmas portraits. Plus, I’m trying to simplify my life for the next two months or so, and have to comb and put hairgel in Killy’s hair each morning can be a bit of an undertaking. When its shorter it really doesn’t even need to be combed.
