Jen’s no good day
Ugh! The minivan is finally fixed (except for the CD changer, which they have to replace so we have to take it back one more time!), and we had to drive all the way from Shawnee to Independence, and then I had to drive from Independence to Olathe to pick Erin up, and then back to Shawnee. I was driving the Taurus from 3:20 to 5:30 today non-stop – in a HUGE rainstorm. Ever since I was involved in an accident in college in a rainstorm (I wasn’t driving) I’ve been terrified of traveling by car in the rain, so it was just awful. On top of that, Killy cried hysterically the entire 45 minutes from Independence to Olathe for no apparent reason. It was crazy! He’s never been that upset in a car before. He’s been perfectly happy since we got home. So, there I was, on the verge of either breaking down in tears or throwing up from the stress for much of the afternoon, then found out we have to do it all again sometime in the next week or so in order to get a CD changer. ARGH! Erin was really nice, though – she watched Killy for an hour when we got home and then ordered pizza. It was just the break I need to regain my sanity. David and I are about to go for a nice long walk, which will also help.
In happy news: the baby has really gotten active in the last week! I can now occasionally see big kicks! Its very weird to be sitting still and suddenly your shirt starts jumping around… David can feel all the kicks now, too.
Also cool, David and I counted up the words in Killy’s vocabulary… about 20! Mama, Dada, Auntie, duck, cat, dog, thank you, done, up, down, light, fish, backpack, hi, hello, Grandpa, I love you, ball, Elmo, Bert, banana, nah-nah (his word for nursing)… There are probably at least a couple more, but I can’t think of them. He’s suddenly verbalizing a lot more the last couple of weeks – very cool. I won’t claim that everyone can understand all of his words, but I know what he’s saying.
