Happy Birthday PARTY, Killy!
Today is Killy’s birthday party and I woke up at 7am and started decorating cakes. I can’t wait till his party this afternoon! I made a cake for all the adults – using cousin Jennifer’s fabulous recipe, of course – and a cake for Killy. The adult cake is white with white icing and is decorated with the Baby Einstein caterpillar since we decided on a Baby Einstein theme. The baby cake is two rounds of watermelon iced with a mixture of lite whipped topping and lemon yogurt and topped with blueberries and strawberries – since it is a 2-tiered cake it looks VERY ipressive. Lots of pictures will be in the gallery by tonight.
I also wrote, “Happy 1st Birthday, Killy” in the driveway with sidewalk chalk – I think that’s a cute tradition to start, I’m going to do it every year on each of our kids’ birthdays. I still need to wrap all the present, make spanikopita and tzatziki for lunch, and then decorate the dining room afterward for the party. I’ve hosted litterally thousands of kids’ parties after working at children’s museums – but this will be my first time doing MY child’s birthday party. I’m excited… We very purposefully did a small party this year, just us and my parents (and maybe cousin Emily, since she’s coming through Kansas City today!). I always hated it when families did HUGE birthday parties for their one year old, who usually got overwhelmed and had a total meltdown.

I’m so proud of you for your Greek cooking endeavors! I made two pans of spanikopita myself yesterday for my cousin’s graduation party tonight. Psychic connection? (hee hee)
I’m so glad that the party was awesome! You are the best mom ever!
