Big healthy boy!
Killian’s appt today went wonderfully! He weighs 20 lbs 4 oz (90th percentile) and is 27.5 inches long (85th percentile). I think he might be longer, but he never stretches out well on the cold table. The pediatrician came into the exam room and said, “Well, look! He’s all grown up now!” She said he was sitting up great and she watched him pass his paci back and forth between his hands. We told her how he always puts the spoon in his left hand (even if we hand it to his right hand) and that we thought he might be left handed, and she said that even though its rare for a baby to show dominant handedness before 2 years old its possible and sounds like it might be the case. (Weird, since David and I are both right-handed.) She said that we were doing great with giving him new foods, too, after I showed her my ultra-geek chart that I made to keep track of the new foods he tries. He had his second shot (DTaP) and did very well – didn’t cry, just fussed for about 10 seconds till the nurse made a face at him. I really like the pediatrician, I asked her if she was supportive of extended breastfeeding and tandem nursing (nursing two children at the same time – a toddler and new baby) and she said the entire practice was supportive of that.

I think it was more like 3 seconds! He hardly fussed at all — he’s such a brave boy!
I think he’s longer, too. The other nurses have always taken a real effort trying to get him to stretch out as far as he could. This one seemed to be more interested in doing it quickly, and I don’t think it was very accurate.

Oh I miss my big boy! I can’t believe how much he’s grown and how many skills he’s learned since I was there! I want to come back!!! (whine whine)
P.S. I had to laugh about your “ultra-geek chart.” You know I’d do the same thing!

Yeah, yeah, you two keep on thinking that the food chart ranks as “ultra-geek.” I bet neither of you use Excel to count your change — and then chart it to ‘visualize’ how much money you have.

No, I don’t use it to count my change, but I use it to keep track of everything I spend. I use it to determine show which Lemony Snicket books are at which library branches. I use it to keep track of my Christmas presents each year, as well as which cards I send so I don’t send the same one to the same person twice. Not to mention, I use it to analyze my data. HA!
