Youth Group

Tomorrow I’m doing lunch and a movie with the Youth Group – I think we’re going to watch “Bruce Almighty.” (I need to go to the store and buy it tonight, though!) I thought that it would be a really awful, somewhat blasphemous movie, but instead its wonderful. Its one of those movies that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking, and I think its “cool” enough that my youth group will enjoy watching it together. I’m guessing that most of them have seen it, but hopefully there will be some good discussion going on about it within the group. I’m going to bring sandwich stuff and lots of popcorn, and the kids always have a good time when we all eat together!

You know, I guess that this generation has unique ways of communicating. My friends and I from college (and even high school) all have online journals – “web logs” or “blogs” for short. Its such a great way to keep in touch, I can see what Amit or Carina or Rafe are doing, even though none of us write/call/see each other very often. Its wonderful to see pictures of little cousin Ryan swinging at Grandmother’s house and keep up with the progress made on Rob and Jessica’s house-building. Its nice to hear about baby Lucas, and see where we’ll be family-wise in just a few months. Its great to get updates every few days on how school is going for Katie… Its just a wonderful system! I realized, though, that honestly a lot of people don’t understand the whole concept of blogging, and think its weird. I think that there are a lot of weird people out there who live there lives on the internet and never seem to contribute much to society, but there’s also a lot of people who can USE the internet to help them keep in touch with people they love. I know that my parents and the Woods like being able to see pictures of me and David and Erin, and like knowing what kind of things we’re doing everyday – and I know they’ll like it even more when we can put baby pictures up every day! I don’t know what my point is here, exactly, but I just want all my friends/family to know that I love reading your blogs and I love keeping in touch… please keep blogging!

Yay! I think it’s wonderful to be able to keep up with my nearest and dearest, too, despite the fact that I’m a dreadful correspondent! At least you understand and that’s part of why I LOVE you!

Yes, Katie and I were just talking about that earlier… EVERYONE seems to have a blog. MOST blogs are unfortunately just mindless drivel, that is if they aren’t plain out self-wallowing. That’s kinda why I got away from LJ and set up a movable type blog (thanks to David for the hosting). I know he’s seen it, I dunno if you have…

Check it out :) I do love keeping up with people. I find random blogs sometimes, and I almost feel like a stalker for reading them… like, really really in-depth discussions about people’s lives who I’ve never met… its also a great way to get out frustrations. It’s really taking over the net. Candidates for the presidency have them, public figures all over have them… they’re just taking over. It’s a very cool experience to read about famous people’s lives. I need to start posting more, I’m very bad about updating. And you know what? I’m rambling. *L* Love you much guys
